I didn't know you get 10 free trees. I might go sign my parents up for the Arbor Day Foundation. Thanks for the idea KN!

A hunter has to have a tag for this area to be able to hunt here and with the added complication of being a "special" area - there are extra permits to get I think- makes the hunting here more difficult.
I know why Lindsey didn't see any bucks while hunting- they were all down here feasting in our yard.

At least we don't have the "blessing" of beavers. I know some people not too far from here, close to the river, who have quite a bit of a problem with them. Not fun.

I can understand wanting to live in the country- even being overwhelmed and disappointed sometimes- we really enjoy it.

If we decide to plant more, we'll look into the Arbor Day Foundation. Thanks for the reminder, KN!

I feel very sad when trees die. Have you joined Arbor Day Foundation? Ten free trees for your $10 membership. (Only sort of free, then, I guess.)

My parents just replaced three trees from deer and gophers. This summer they were blessed, I mean annoyed, with a beaver that wanted to spend the summer with them. He took out two trees and I do mean took them out. He chopped them down and drug them through a fence down to the creek. They were anything but impressed by his work. Even after hearing all these stories of critters and the inability to grow things I still wish I lived in the country! Ahhh...how sad huh.

I could have my father-in-law come do some hunting over there...maybe that would deter them. Sorry to hear you sad news. At least you can blame the critters...Ken and I usually kill everything through ignorance and neglect.
