Life with three kids, five acres, a dog and only two, semi-sane adults. (...the nervous twitch is barely perceptible!)

We are just wild with the thermostat! The thermostat is set to 70 but the thermometer on the outside wall often reads between 66-68 so the whole house isn't at a balmy 70. I know when I sit at the computer is when I get the most cold and have taken to wrapping up in a blanket to help keep warm. My toes are cold from being outside so I put on an extra pair of socks. I hate cold toes! One does tend to adapt. The reason the kids don't notice it so much is they are often running around like wild things and getting their blood flowing! I suppose I could run through the house a few times and see if that helps, or climb the walls. Wouldn't that be a sight!

70 degrees??? You're extravagent compared to us (well, really compared to Shaun, he is the "frugal" king). I feel ecstatic if the whole house temperature is 66 degrees. Now I say "whole house" because we only have oil heat here, and you know how expensive that is right now. So....we are not using it....let me repeat, we are not using any oil heat. We are only using space heaters for the rooms that we are occupying, and we set those at about 65 degrees. Occasionally I'll set my office temperature to 70 degrees but don't tell Shaun that! Right now I'm typing with finger-less gloves, with a thick wool sweater, and a wool shawl over my legs. I've stopped complaining about the cold so I must be getting used to it... either that or I have just gotten smarter and have worn more layers. Here's to us staying warm!
